Hollywoood - in the hood

Friday, January 25, 2008

Poor Ate Aimee, she comes to LA during the 3 days out of the year that it decides to rain. No worries, she's got Dewdrops and Sunshine here pictured with her in front of the itty bitty Hollywood sign.

Bottoms Up

Tuesday, January 22, 2008

I confess, I am a drink hoarder. L to R: Moscato D'Asti sparking wine, Lemongrass soda, Buzz Cola from the Qwik-E-Mart, Japanese Classic Ale, Japanese Orange Fanta, Italian Orange Fanta, Blood Orange soda and Stella Rosa sparking wine. PS: this picture proves that my floor is uneven. Ahhh thank you...

Reading List

Tuesday, January 15, 2008
Here is my current reading list. I'm most excited about the Holman Student Bible. It is in contemporary English and has pictures and quotes and other things that make the scriptures come alive. I always wanted to read the whole Bible but I did'nt really understand what it was saying. Hopefully this would change that. I also have Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand and Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert coming in the mail through www.paperbackswap.com. Yay books!

Lost in Translation / Scarlett Johansson wannabe? Maybe, but I love it! This plastic cherry blossom is one of my favorite things. It reminds me of Tokyo.

We Hooka You Up

Friday, January 11, 2008

This was my first time trying hooka. My coworker showed us a part of his culture and introduced us to something new. I love that -trying new things - especially with someone who knows about it. I liked it, although it hurt my throat. Newbie? Yessa!

Light at the End of the Tunnel

010909

This is the sight that greets me right when I get out of work. Isn't God glorious! It is like the world saying "Hi, where have you been all day? I've missed you. Look at what you miss all day while youre inside!" Ha! Touche Mr. Sky ... touche.

Lee is the Man Stan

010809

This is a painting by the artist, Amanda Visell, for the Stan Lee tribute show that we went to in LA. The gallery invited some artists to create pieces inspired by Stan Lee and this is my favorite piece there! I love her style, I wanna marry it. Ooh I mean ...

Chicken Noodle Soup .. and a Soda on the side

010708

This was taken at *see above* in Pasadena. D took me as a surprise because he knew I would like it there. (Thanks D!) I love seeing/discovering new places that I havent been to before. It's basically an old school Bevmo. We bought a bunch of things including: lemongrass soda, guarana, Nesbitt's Peach, Japanese Hitachi Beer (with the owl), and of course some cigarette gum. We were like 2 kids in a candy store! ... oh wait, we were!

Epiphany

010608

This was taken at St. Margaret Mary Church in Torrance. Today was my first day attending Mass there. It's a beautiful church - even more so at this time, I think, because it is still decorated for Christmas. January 6 is the Catholic holiday of Epiphany. My own personal epiphany for today is: it is not good to drink ibuprofen past its expiration date.

It Dont Matter If Youre Black or White

010508

This was taken at Cerritos Library. Can you guess what it is? This daily photo journal has taught me to look at things interestingly, different angles, different perspectives. There is so much beauty in the world and I think we all forget this sometimes because we get too caught up in our rushed lives. This has reminded me to stop and really notice the kind of everday normal, yet extraordinary beauty that surrounds us everyday, everywhere. There's a photo waiting to happen in each moment!

Menu: meatballs, cold pasta with mozzarella, tomatoes and hard to find basil, bruschetta and the piece de resistance: Devil's food cake in tree shapes! After dinner entertainment: Apples to Apples. *Yes, I know I missed a spot with the "snow".*

Pink is the New Black

010308

It was an impromptu cousin's night at our favorite hotdog joint - Pink's! Photo was taken on the sly while this guy was getting our order - Bacon Chile Cheese Dog for me, America the Beautiful Dog for M. The dogs were full of yummy goodness - not so yummy good tummies the next day. Wait: 45 minutes, Total bill: $10.25, Imodium: free from medicine closet, Time Spent with Cousins: Priceless!

Take Another Little Pizza My Heart Now Baby

010208
Pizza dinner with the family at La Rizza's Pizza House in LB. Good times. Who is the winner with the best face in this picture? (L to R): We have jolly, blurry, half dark, sleepy, half light, happy, half head and scary. What do you think?

Promise of a New Day

010108

My first official post and picture for 2008! This was taken at the Pike in Downtown Long Beach. The faraway roller coaster is the bridge (modeled after a roller coaster that used to exist here). The ferris wheel is in the middle and the Christmas tree is in the foreground.
Here's to a happy and healthy 2008 for everybody!
